LO2 Textual Analysis of Rushes

In this documentary we followed the same conventions that all documentaries use. All documentaries uses fact and figure which is what we also did for our documentary. All the information for our documentary is checked so that all the facts that are mentioned are 100 percent truthful so that nobody can get offended. When presenting the documentary we followed how others are presented and spoke to the camera to make it as direct as possible. We used natural light to film at the location of where Beverley Allitt is being held currently. This is due to the entirety of the documentary being filmed outside so using any types of artificial lighting would be impractical as it wouldn't do anything. Also there will be panoramic shots which are found in many documentaries to break up the talking and make it more engaging. In this documentary we will follow the conventions that others follow such as using images of the victims as well as images of the places that are to do with the documentary. We also used location for deciding what would be an appropriate location to film that had something to do with Beverly Allitt. We did this by scoping the location first and settled on a place that was covered by trees to block the wind out so that the microphone could pick up what we was saying.

We used many different types of techniques when editing this documentary. The first thing that was added to the documentary was the title screen as that is what every documentary has. The title screen will set the stage for what the whole documentary is about and gives the audience an idea of what will happen in it. As well as showing people what it is about it also allows for a clean transition into the bulk of the documentary. Smooth transitions can be used throughout the documentary to make sure that there is a flow to it and not just clips cut together. Also when editing our documentary, we will edit in images and videos when appropriate so that the audience can have images of the victims meaning they do not need to imagine it. It also will break up the talking scenes so that it isn't all the same. It will also show the audience who doesn't know Beverley Allitt, who she is and what she looks like. This would make the the audience engage more with the documentary as they have something to see.

Because our documentary is about a serial murderer, we may be able to attract individuals who are interested in crime documentaries or, more particularly, serial killer films, by employing certain editing approaches. Another feature of our short film is that it follows a standard framework (Tzvetan Todorov 1977), which means that it is presented in chronological sequence. This is demonstrated in our short film, which opens with Beverley Allitt's history and how she came to be a nurse before moving on to Beverley Allitt's victims. After that, it carries on to what happened to Beverley after she committed her crimes.

Additional considerations in the creation of our short film included the mise en scene and editing techniques. This includes factors like the documentary's location and the lighting employed in the film. To begin, when we initially filmed, we investigated locations for a decent filming setting that also happened to be near the location of the person we were discussing. This implies that when people watch our documentary, they will be able to see how we have extended the narrative and genre by going to a location that is related to the person we are discussing. This implies that when people watch our documentary, they will be able to see how we have extended the narrative and genre by going to a location that is related to the person we are discussing. This also means that we can take advantage of particular groups of people who produce documentaries. Jason Mittel (Jason Mittel, 1999)
