LO1 - Regulation and ethical consideration
When creating our documentary there are a number of legal and ethical regulations that we need to consider:
The first legal regulator we need to think about is BBFC (British board of film classification). They regulate the age classification for films. This means that after we have filmed our short film we need to think about what the age rating would be for it. When factoring in that our film is about a serial killer (Beverly Allit) our documentary will want to be targeted towards a more mature audience. This means our documentary would want to be aimed at people who are around 15+ as people of this age and higher could be considered more mature.
Another legal regulation we need to think about is copyright. This means that if we use any music in the documentary that has been made by someone else then we need to ask permission to use it first. If we don't get permission then it means that our documentary can be copyrighted and will mean we wont be able to upload it to platforms like YouTube. It also means that any images we use that we did not take ourselves, will need permission to be used in the documentary otherwise we still have the risk of being copyrighted.
An ethical consideration that we need to think about when making the documentary is that we don't cause any offence to people/our audience. Our documentary is aimed at everyone which means that when filming the short film we need to make sure that we don't single out anyone otherwise they may take offence to it. To make sure this doesn't happen we can take precautions of how we will address our audiences to make sure that when we are talking in the documentary we are including everyone that may be watching our documentary.
